"Bap mukussuh? (밥 먹었어?)”
This is a common phrase in Korean that translates to “have you eaten?”—a greeting equivalent to a “how are you?” in the US. Rice (bap) is not just food but a form of deep connection with my society and the people. It's a symbol of care for others, a solution to tragedy and emptiness, and even a way to express joy. Our culture around food is a big part of who I am and it keeps me connected to my community to this day. Infusing empathy and care has largely shaped my approach as a designer. Keeping a connection to my cultural roots, I am able to curate projects that resonate with viewers on a personal and cultural perspective. I strive for my work to bridge communities fostering deeper understanding and connections.
