My name is Yin Hongji, but you can call me Rocky. I'm a designer specializing in furniture and lighting design research.
Growing up in China, my upbringing was deeply influenced by my family. My mother manages our family's jewelry business, exposing me to design at a young age and laying the foundation for my appreciation of all things beautiful. On the other hand, my father is a professor of geological sciences. I often accompanied him on outdoor expeditions, fostering a strong connection with nature and providing me with ample opportunities for real-world experiences. This exposure indirectly shaped my research interests, leading me to explore the intersection of biological knowledge and the next steps in design evolution and possibilities.
Combining my early exposure to design with my experiences in nature, I am passionate about pushing the boundaries of design and discovering innovative ways to integrate biological insights into my work. I believe that by bridging the gap between science and design, we can unlock new levels of creativity and functionality in the objects we interact with every day.
