Isabelle Paquette - Editor
24 years old. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. BFA in Film Editing and Filmmaking. I will reside in West LA after graduation. I am currently working part time at Coefficient Labs as an Assistant Editor. My goal is to continue working as editor and in the meantime I will write and direct my personal projects. In the future my goal is to edit and direct feature films.
I didn't always want to be an artist, in my younger years I started out as a gymnast. After eight years of training as a division one athlete and two 1st place titles in the state, I decided it wasn't what I wanted anymore. It was no longer apart of who I was. So, I stopped a semester before graduating high school. It was the best and worst years of my life. It has shaped me into the person that I've become today. As an artist it has taught me how to persevere, push the limits of reality, defy the norms and if you want something bad enough you will achieve it. Now, looking back as graduating student from Art Center College of Design now I see that filmmaking is also a sport, just a different kind. Like gymnastic, filmmaking is competitive, takes time to master, requires visualization, training, precision, patients, and most importantly story telling. As we all know there are four events in female gymnastics. My best exercise was the floor exercise. To excel at floor it requires being a good storyteller. With your music, body movements and skills, the athlete becomes the artist. Walking out on the open floor and waiting for the music cue was the more exhilarating and nerve racking feeling in my life. Being able to survive under pressure and to thrive in it, that is what it takes to be a filmmaker in this world today. Even during the exhausting days of work or of training it makes it all worth it at the end of the day when you are able to tell your story. So I didn't quit a sport, I just fell in love with a different kind.
