Johann Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan, but moved between countries frequently growing up. Experiencing many different cultures, peoples, and places at a young age he was always inspired to be creative. Having a great passion for films such as The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, and games such as Halo, Johann knew that he wanted to one day contribute to the entertainment industry. After finding out about concept art when studying industrial design, he was determined to make his dream a reality, and the Art Center was the only school that offered this opportunity. Now Johann is wrapping up his Art Center career, he has learned invaluable skills as well as made lasting friendships with exceptional individuals, and is looking forward to the next chapter of his career. Johann primarily designs environments and keyframes, working primarily digitally, he knows how to use state of the art techniques such as painting, photobashing and 3d to rapidly develop high quality concepts.
