One of my favorite hobbies is DJing and mixing electronic dance music. Blending two songs together in harmony is a lot like graphic design, being that I create harmony in visual compositions. When I think about scale relationships in typography I connect back to how I find harmony and balance between the treble and bass when mixing. As a DJ there is great joy in finding a new record much like the same joy in finding the right typeface. When I mix a song in a new and unexpected way, I can create a new appreciation for it. In the same as a designer I can visual frame content in new ways to shed a new perspective. Making this connection has helped me enjoy the process of design even more.
